What Have I Been Up To?

It's been a while since I've been able to make a blog post, but I've been doing a lot in the process.

Fall Must-Haves

Fall has to be my favorite season without a doubt, mostly because I like to wear gigantic sweaters without any social consequences, but I love the slightly chilly weather and increased motivation to get cozy. I've compiled my top fall must-haves. This list is purely personal and I pretty much have no idea what is "trending"

1. Cropped turtlenecks: I love the entire "cropped" idea because it creates a perfect division at the waist, allowing for great emphasis, so why stop just because the weather is colder? I also love turtlenecks. Not only do they keep your neck warm, but also they gives this aura of geeky-chic professionalism that is conservative, yet sexy. (Pictured)
2. Knee-length skirts: I think summer has made me sick of baring my thighs out of necessity, so I've recently been drawn to skirts that are longer and have a more fitted silhouette. (Pictured)
3. Ankle boot(ies): In the past, I've really liked taller boots, but as I've gravitated towards longer hemlines, I've been drawn to shorter boots. Since I'm pretty short, I prefer a higher heel. (Pictured)
4. Dark lipstick and nails: I feel constrained by glosses and lighter lipcolors during the summer, so I'm definitely happier to be going back to darker and bolder lipsticks as well as nail polish that actually compliments my skin tone. (Pictured)
5. Tights: I tend to enter a zone of hoodies and jeans when it's cold outside, so having a bunch of high-waisted skirts and warm, neutral tights help me look better with minimal effort. (Pictured)
6. Dainty jewelery: For me, small things make a huge impact. I love having dainty studs and rings to give a little unexpected pop of metallic. (Pictured and Pictured)
7. Huge curls: I hate using heat on my hair, so I sleep with my hair in a bun, which seems to be the best way for me to achieve the curls I want. Also the paper bag method is pretty great. (Pictured)

Apartment Adventures: Inspiration

I'm just about to move into my new apartment, so I've been looking for cheap, yet elegant decorating options. I love moving into new spaces because it gives me a chance to start over with my decorating. For my apartment, I've decided to go with a color scheme of white, gold, and light pink. It's funny because in the past, I've been very reluctant to decorate (or wear) lighter colors, but that's been changing lately. I've been looking all over the internet, so I've listed some ideas I'm definitely going to DIY.

Trend for Less: The Cambridge Satchel

If you haven't figured out by now, I'm having a love affair with satchels in general. And while it may be a while before I get my hands on the coveted Cambridge Satchel, I've found a bunch of similar satchels that are somewhat similar and a bit less pricier. My favorites are pictured above.

Literary Love: Summer

July has been a pretty slow month, as far as reading is concerned. I thought having a three month break with no one to tell me what to read would be wonderful and force me to read books I actually wanted to. My ridiculously long "to-read" list has been tacked up on my wall for ages and it was so relieving to go to the library and pick up the titles I've been dying to get my hands on for months. While I found all the thirteen or so books that I wanted, I've only read two! I'm blaming my summer classes and impending finals for this, but I honestly have no excuse.

Fashion Wishlist: The Cambridge Satchel

I’ve been seeing the Cambridge Satchel popping up absolutely everywhere. This structured, yet versatile bad seems to be a huge trend in the UK, where it's originally made.
